# Quickstart and your first task

Sign in, open a first conversation and give a small task whose result is easy to check.

## Open the app

Steerbay runs as a web app, and anyone can create an account. You start on the Free plan, which needs no card.

1. Open the app.
2. Sign in with Google, GitHub or a code sent to your email. Your first sign-in creates the account.
3. Choose a name.
4. If you like, connect your own ChatGPT. Otherwise just start with Steerbay AI, which works with Claude models.

You use the same account and the same work on computer, phone and tablet. An ordinary chat does not need you to choose a folder. Paid plans are bought on the account page, which the app links to.

## Your first run

1. Open a new conversation. Use a short text without sensitive information for the first attempt.
2. Describe the output: who it is for, how long it should be and what it should be based on.
3. Check the answer against the material. Verify numbers, names and that the agent added no decisions the material does not contain.
4. Continue in the same thread with a specific change. Start a new conversation for an unrelated task.

Example request

> Turn these notes into a five-point summary and a list of open questions. Do not research or send anything. Mark anything missing from the notes as unknown. Notes: \[paste text\].

## Pick a task you can check

A good first task has one input and one output: summarizing notes, rewriting a short text or comparing three offers. Leave payments, bulk changes and work involving several sign-ins for later. The aim is to learn how the agent reads your request and how easily you can check the result.

Example request

> Compare these three offers in a table: supplier, price including VAT, delivery cost, delivery date and warranty. Use only the attached material. Mark missing information as 'not stated'. Finish with what I need to find out before deciding. Do not order anything.

Before sending, check that the attachments are really attached. If you only have links, say whether the agent may open them. If the result should be a file, name the format and ask for a download link.

## How to tell a task is done

- Every input is covered and each detail can be traced to its source.
- Missing information has not been replaced by unmarked guesses.
- The output has the requested format and any file opens.
- The agent distinguishes a recommendation from what it actually did.

If something is wrong, send a specific correction in the same thread, for example: 'Delivery is not free in the second offer; use the figure on page 2 and recalculate the total.'

## What next

Once a first task works, try an attached file or research on public pages. Add signed-in websites and scheduled tasks after a successful manual run. It is then easier to tell whether a problem comes from the request, the access or the schedule.

Missing an answer? The AI help searches every guide and shows its source.
